General Ventilation

Providing the best possible air quality

In a workplace, ventilation is used to control exposure to airborne contaminants. It is commonly used to remove contaminants such as fumes, dusts and vapours, in order to provide a healthy and safe working environment, and can be used alone or with Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) at specific capture points.

A correctly designed General Ventilation system will provide the best possible indoor air quality which can be a huge benefit to both employer and employee. These systems, sometimes referred to as dilution ventilation systems or fresh air ventilation systems, are used primarily to control temperature and humidity however these systems are also often utilised to remove and dilute fume, dust and odours associated with industrial and manufacturing processes.  For industrial applications, ventilation systems are defined by the level of control over air quality and safety they provide.

The Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations require building owners and managers to ensure that enclosed workplaces are adequately ventilated with fresh purified air.
